On 9/28/25, Brush officers were called for the report of a suspicious device near the Brush Secondary Campus. The report was described as having characteristics of a pipe bomb.
Officers arrived on scene, located the device, and with the aid of the Brush Volunteer Fire Department immediately began setting up a perimeter by notifying residents in the immediate vicinity. Greeley Bomb Disposal was contacted and provided their assessment of the device with the team responding this morning for a more thorough investigation.
Upon their arrival this morning, the device was found to be empty but made of materials commonly seen in other media such as common piping. It is not believed the device was left with intent to do harm but just dropped from other waste as similar items were found in the yard of the residence it was behind with no evidence of explosive materials.
There is No further safety concern for the City of Brush and this incident was determined to not have any criminal intent.
For additional inquiry or information, please contact the Brush Police Department at 970-842-5074 or the Brush School District Office at 970-842-5176.
We want to thank the Brush Volunteer Fire Department, Greeley Bomb Disposal, the Brush School District, Morgan County Ambulance Service, Colorado State Patrol, and the concerned citizen that made the initial call. The City of Brush is a safer place with everyone working together.
To the Brush School District Community:
We are pleased to share that the Greeley Bomb Squad has completed their assessment of the suspicious device found on our secondary campus. The device was determined to be neither an explosive nor a decoy device, but made of materials of a similar type from a local residence. All school sites have been cleared and secured.
The JV football game scheduled for 4:00 p.m. today, September 29, 2025 will take place as planned.
School will resume normal operations for all campuses tomorrow, Tuesday, September 30, 2025. All students and staff should report as usual.
We appreciate the patience and cooperation of our students, families, and staff during this situation. Thank you to the Brush Police Department, Brush Fire Department, and Greeley Bomb Squad for their swift and professional response.
The safety of our school community remains our highest priority.
For additional inquiry or information, please contact the Brush Police Department at 970-842-5074 or the Brush School District Office at 970-842-5176.
Sincerely,
Marsha Cody
Superintendent, Brush School District RE-2(J)

We are excited to announce that Little Beets childcare will be transitioning to Evans Early Childhood Center at Thomson Primary, overseen by Rosie Evans, with a targeted opening date of May 2026. Through this new partnership, Rosie Evans will be leasing the modular pods and equipment from Brush School District, with the childcare facility remaining on school district property but completely operated by Evans Early Childhood Center at Thomson Primary. Little Beets has provided quality care and educational programming for our community families, and we are confident that Evans Early Childhood Center at Thomson Primary will continue this tradition of excellence in early childhood education and nurturing care. Evans Early Childhood Center at Thomson Primary shares our commitment to supporting families' childcare needs in Brush and will maintain the high standards of quality care that families have come to expect. We believe this transition will ensure continued exceptional programming while maintaining the convenient on-site location that our community families have come to value. We look forward to working with Rosie Evans and her team to provide a smooth transition and continued excellence in childcare services. More details will be shared as we approach the opening date.
