Brush High School Drama Club is proud to present "The Brightest Thing (Or, the Squonk Play)" by Don Zolidis on Friday, November 6, 2026 and Saturday, November 7, 2026.
When life takes an unexpected turn, a young girl named Emelia goes on an epic adventure across America to rescue her mother from the dreaded snow pirates. Taking to the skies in an eccentric Balloonist’s hot-air balloon, Emelia’s quest will take her to the forests of Pennsylvania, the Florida beaches, the plains of South Dakota, and the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. Along the way, she crosses paths with a bizarre group of characters, including the Big Fairy, the Squonk, and more. "The Brightest Thing (Or, The Squonk Play)" by Don Zolidis is an American fable exploring love, loss, and discovering self-worth in the unlikeliest of places.
We hope Morgan County will join BHS Drama Club for this fantastical, family-friendly adventure on Friday, November 6 at 7:00 pm and Saturday, November 7 at 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Tickets are $7 for general admissions and $5 for senior citizens, non-BHS students, BSD staff, and veterans. Current Brush High School students can get in free with their student IDs.

This marks the 16th year we've received this grant! Over the years, it has helped hundreds of students attend STEM camps and compete in regional, state, and international science fairs, and it has supported professional development for our STEM educators.

A big thank you to Buildings By Design for visiting our Trade Development class last week! 🏗️
They walked our students through the role of a general contractor and how they coordinate with the many trades that bring a project to life, including electricians, plumbers, HVAC technicians, concrete crews, and carpenters. They also covered jobsite safety, budgeting, risk analysis, and the work of their human resources department.
Our students were fully engaged, asking great questions throughout the class period. Best of all, they got to see firsthand how their chosen career paths fit into the construction industry, right here with a local company in Brush, Colorado.
We appreciate our community partners who invest in the next generation of skilled tradespeople!

Our Beetdigger family is heartbroken by the loss of a dear friend, Marci Sanders. Over her career, Marci taught children from preschool through junior high before serving as an elementary school counselor here in Brush until her retirement.
Marci made a lasting impact on our students, our staff, and our whole community. Her legacy lives on in every student who knew someone believed in them, and in every family who knew their children were truly cared for.
