Student Council (STUCO)
Sponsors: Mrs. Dorothy Dick and Mrs. Brooke Guccione
Student council representatives are chosen at the beginning of every year. If you are interested, please pick up an application at the office and turn it in by the September deadline (listen to the announcements for approximate dates). At the end of every year, 7th graders will hold elections and vote for their STUCO officers for their upcoming 8th grade year.

Yearbook
Sponsor: Ms. Jessica Edington
Students interested in creating the annual yearbook should pick up the application at the office and turn it in by the October deadline (listen to the announcements for approximate dates). If chosen, yearbook will hold a meeting once a week from November through March. Students will be in charge of designing, editing, and producing our annual yearbook, which includes taking pictures of various school events.

Book and a Movie Club Book and a Movie Club
Sponsor: Mrs. Laura McConnell & Ms. Jessica Edington
Enjoy reading? Enjoy watching movies? If so, then Book and a Movie Club could be for you. BaaM meets every Wednesday from 3:15pm to 4:00pm and we discuss selected chapters from the books. First semester we are reading The Spiderwick Chronicles by Tony DiTerlizzi and Holly Black; we will then attend the movie in February. Drama

Drama club is an opportunity for sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students to explore their theatrical talents, comedic aptitudes, and dramatic flair while strengthening memorization skills, increasing knowledge, and building self-confidence.  Students are involved in a variety of activities including improvisation, individual performance, team-building, creative dramatics, and stage productions. 

The drama club is open to all BMS students, and the meetings are on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in room 132.  Please contact Mrs. Simons if you are interested in joining, or listen to the announcements for more information.

Jazz Band
Sponsor: Mr. John McDonald
The Jazz Band at BMS is open to any seventh or eighth grade student who plays one of the following instruments:
• Alto Saxophone
• Tenor Saxophone
• Baritone Saxophone
• Trumpet
• Trombone
• Piano
• Electric Bass
• Guitar
• Trap Set

Jazz Band allows BMS students an opportunity to study a different and fun style of music.  We have performance opportunities that include the UNC Greeley Jazz Festival in April, and our regularly scheduled concerts in December, March, and April.  The Jazz Band is also used to develop ties between Beaver Valley and Thompson when we go there to perform our recruitment concerts.  We also look forward to performing Jazz @ Lunch for the middle school students in March.

We meet before school at 7:00am on Monday and Wednesday for the entire year. Please see Mr. McDonald for more information if you are interested.

8th Grade Washington D.C. Trip

Want to see your nation's capitol?  Come to Washington with the 8th grade American History students.  There is still room.  The trip dates are June 2nd - June 5th, 2008. 

We will visit many memorials, such as the Iwo Jima Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial, Washington Memorial, Vietnam Memorial, Korean Memorial and WWII Memorial.  We will also visit the Pentagon, Arlington Cemetery, the Smithsonian Museums, the Holocaust Museum, Mount Vernon, the National Archives, the Capitol and many other places.  It is an action-packed four days, but it is a blast.

If you would like to go, please contact Mrs. Dreitz here at Brush Middle School.  The trip is open to any 8th grade student.
