RE: Testing Data Release:  2017 PARCC Test Results with 2016 Comparison Brush School District RE-2J

The test results from this past spring’s state assessments have been released.  As you can quickly surmise, our students’ performance on these tests fall noticeably below the Colorado state average.  We are aware that our students’ achievement levels are not in line with the goals of the district, nor are they indicative of our students’ abilities.  Please know that we are currently reviewing, revising, and aligning our curriculum to ensure that our students achievement levels and learning are in step with expectations on the state assessments and accurately reflect the teaching and learning taking place in our schools.  We expect to see significant gains in regards to our students’ scores as we complete our processes and eliminate sequencing issues, gaps in instruction, and other variables that contribute to this circumstance.  Our district’s number one goal for the 2017-2018 school year is to “use data driven review and instruction to increase student achievement at all levels.”  We are committed to that goal and are confident that our students will experience learning and achievement growth in increments of which we can all be proud.  If you have questions or concerns regarding our achievement scores, our review processes, or any other facet of our district, please contact me at the school district office.
